Swiss Village East Property Owners Association
President’s Report
Spring 2006

Dear Property Owners:

It has been some time since the property owners have seen a written report from the association or a newsletter. We are currently attempting to revive the newsletter and will be working on updating our website as well. Let me first begin by listing all of our current board members:

Peter Wendling............................President

William Law.................................Vice President

Lonnie Petroskey.........................Treasurer

Ralph Crosslin..............................Secretary

Pat Olson......................................Board Member

Tim Suppes...................................Board Member

Lee Baumann................................Board Member

Sharon Koppe...............................Board Member

Despite the lack of a recent newsletter, the association remains active. This year we have again contracted for maintenance services with Northern Exposure. Northern Exposure will be periodically mowing the shoulders of the roads within the subdivision. They also are cleaning out our storm drains and picking up the extra sand left by road commission trucks from the winter. We have also had the old tennis/basketball court removed from George Johnson Park off of Cedar River Drive. The old tennis court was deteriorating and had had little use over the past few years. It was also difficult to get to for many residents within the association.

The association is also working on further improvements for the children’s park located on Clearview Drive. There is currently a picnic area with swings, tetherball, and a basketball court at the park. Further improvements to the park will be made to prevent erosion. We are also looking into fencing around the basketball court as well.

The association also provides for a dumpster located at the end of Park Lane for all members of the association. Please make sure that all household garbage is bagged and placed directly in the dumpster. The dumpster is not meant for hazardous waste, including household hazardous waste. Make sure that any paint cans that are placed in the dumpster are empty of paint and dry. We also request that you do not leave any garbage, whether bagged or unbagged, outside of the dumpster. If you notice excess dumping or dumping by people who are not members of the association, please contact the association directly. I can be reached at my office in Bellaire at 231-533-8635. Residents who live in Swiss Village East 1 and part of Swiss Village East 2 in Custer Township can also contact Custer Township and have curbside pickup in addition to access to the dumpster. Custer Township can provide you details with respect to pick up for seasonal residents or full-time residents.

If you have any questions about the payment of dues, please contact our treasurer, Lonnie Petroskey at 231-587-0949. For those of you planning to build, remember that you must submit your building plans to the Swiss Village East Architectural Committee at P.O. Box 793, Bellaire, Michigan 49615. If you have any questions regarding the applications and the process, please contact vice president Bill Law at 231-587-5063. Building permit applications will be provided.

As many of you may be aware, Schuss Mountain and Shanty Creek have recently been sold by Comerica to a company called Apex Oil. The resorts will continue to operate as they have been. Apex Oil has indicated that they have long term plans to make significant improvements to the resorts. This will be a benefit to all of us in Antrim County, and in particular to the property owners within our association.

Our next two meetings are scheduled for July 15, 2006 and October 7, 2006. At this time our meetings will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the law offices of Young, Graham & Elsenheimer located just north of downtown Bellaire off of M-88. Please check the website for recent meeting minutes. Financial figures will also be posted on the website. However, I have attached a copy of our year-to-date budget to actual for review.

The board looks forward to seeing you at our next scheduled board meetings out in the neighborhood. On behalf of the property owners association of Swiss Village East, I thank you for your active support and hope that all of you have an enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Peter R. Wendling, President

Swiss Village East
